K. Fortuna called a meeting of the Academic Oversight Committee of Urban Montessori Charter School to order on Thursday Sep 21, 2023 at 3:22 PM.

D. Williams made a motion to approve the minutes from Academic Oversight Committee Regular Meeting on 06-15-23.
K. Fortuna seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED to approve the motion.

II. Academic Oversight

A.

Instructional Updates

Summer cohort just had a weekend update - math and poetry.

 

SBAC data will be reviewed at the next meeting.

 

Goal setting around academic data that we can collect that is true to what is happening in the classroom, as opposed to SBAC and NWEA.  Site Leadership Team is looking at it, but D. Bissonette and K. Feeney are also looking at goals (ie, x% of students in K, 3rd, and 6th are proficient in math by end of the school year. Currently mapping montessori lessons to transition checklist. Lessons are recorded in transparent classroom.  

 

Coaching is continuing; Tobie is meeting with everyone every week.

Nautilus training happened during start of year PD, updates are continuing

Child Study starts this week.

During most recent PD, all lead teachers went to observe other schools. LE/UE went to Twin Oaks; primary went to Marin Montessori. Nice to start building relationships with other schools, public and private, in the area.

NWEA starts next week.

Board retreat follow up - Role of Academic Oversight Committee

What do we want on an outward facing dashboard re academic? What metrics do we want/need to highlight regularly? What metrics will people understand?

 

Ongoing conversation. Next steps?

 

Each member bring five metrics that we feel should be highlighted. Daniel will send a list of metrics currently monitored to select from.
