What types of policies do peer schools have in place that address mental health, behavioral, developmental and safety of self/others in the school community?  [For instance, the if/then policies of Wake County are probably not a good fit for our community, but the values-based policies of other Triangle-area charters might be a better fit].  Why don’t we have written policy?

 What insurance coverages do we have that cover the school, teachers, staff and board members for the liability that can be associated with personal injuries and property damage that can arise from a student incident from unmet or inadequately met developmental, behavioral or mental health needs?  [What are the limits of our premises liability and director/officer liability policies?  Are the limits adequate for the types of claims that are made at other schools?]
 
Does our insurance company have recommended policies, protocols, procedures or staffing that could inform what we do as a school community?
