Chanel Recasner called a meeting of the board of directors of The Main Street Academy to order on Tuesday Apr 29, 2025 at 6:04 PM.

Shameka Smith made a motion to approve the agenda as published for the 4.29.25 governing board meeting.
Kanetha Stephens seconded the motion.

  • Request to amend budget at next month's governing board meeting
  • 1st Annual Golf Tournament was a success
Shameka Smith made a motion to approve March 2025 month end financial report.
Michael Glanton seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

  • New Board Members - 1 interested (confirmed); still looking form new members; interested candidates should submit resume to Mrs. Tangi Bush.
  • Frequency of governance committee meeting suggested at every other month

  • Request for board to support teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week (May 5 - 9)

Executive Director's Report

  • Parent and community volunteers celebrated at TMSA Volunteer Breakfast held 4.22.25
  • Request approval for 2025-2026 board and committee meetings; board and committee meetings to be moved to bi-monthly schedule
  • State Charter Schools Commission Capacity Interview held today, 4.29.2025. Should be added to State Charter Schools Commission meeting on July 11, 2025
  • Sale of property update - amended to purchase 1 acre (instead of 2) for $25,000; proceeds will go to Annual Innovation Fund
  • 1st Annual Golf Tournament - $15,000 in proceeds
  • Employee Benefits - in renewal phase; reviewing plan offers; employees have been sent a survey
  • Upcoming Compliance Items - submit board training hours; due to FCS 6.30.25; bring forms to governing board meeting (board on track > documents >regular board documents)
Tangie Warrior made a motion to approve the 2025-2026 Board and Committee meeting schedule (dates only, times to be set with 2025-2026 Governing Board).
Michael Glanton seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

  • Summer Learning - will not have due to low response; 115 students invited (with reminders); 29 responded
