Call the Meeting to Order

Tangi Bush, Esq. called a meeting of the Governance Committee Committee of The Main Street Academy to order on Tuesday Aug 20, 2024 at 5:30 PM.

Approve Minutes

Dr. Chaddrick Owes made a motion to approve the minutes from Governance Committee Meeting on 07-23-24.
Tangi Bush, Esq. seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED to approve the motion.

II. Discussion + Action Items

A.

Board Member Training Opportunities & Financial Contribution Reminder

  • There have been many vendor related issues with obtaining fingerprints for the board members, we will take inventory of who has successfully completed fingerprinting to ensure that the this requirement is met by all board members
  • The Governance Board Training Plan will be included as Exhibit 6 in the Charter Petition and will outline how we have met our required training hours in the past and our plan to meet our required training hours currently/future
  • Dr. Owes noted that the draft Charter Petition will be sent to Governing Board members over the weekend however that it will not be sent for approval of the Petition per se, but for review by the Governing Board and so that the Governing Board will be able to state that we support TMSA petitioning for recharter generally
  • In our current Governing Board succession plan, we can institute additional measures to build out diversity 
  • The Governing Board interview with Fulton County Schools will be held on either Oct 7th or 8th and they are open to in person and virtual options
