Mr. DeWeerd shared that he and Mr. Cordero have begun discussing how they can collaborate moving forward regarding retention strategies which include kickoff and evening open house dates. Mr. Ramirez suggested to all principals to please share a monthly date for these evening open house events at their respective campuses.

TEACH Data
Mr. Thompson shared the importance of data in regards to our current families. For instance, we should be able to identify which of our families are in/interested sports, active in tutoring, unhoused, etc. Mr. Ramirez suggested that Mr. Robles should be invited to our next TEACH Retention Committee Meeting in order to further assist with being able to disaggregate our data. Mr. Thompson agreed and will speak with Mr. Robles.

TEACH Peer Mentorship Program
Mr. DeWeerd shared that he has already begun communicating with Mr. Cordero regarding a Peer Mentorship Program model. Mr. DeWeerd shared that this model will include a small group structure with identifiable 7th and 8th grade students who meet the criteria of being part of the program. Mr. Cordero shared that the high school 12th grade students will also need to meet a specific criteria in order to participate. Will be further discussed at follow-up TEACH Retention Committee Meeting. Mr. Ramirez shared that he is awaiting a google doc from Ms. Olguin who had previously shared a document she worked on related to TEACH Academy-TEACH Tech mentoring.

TEACH Day/Founder's Day
Mr. Ramirez shared the idea of perhaps hosting a TEACH Day for our families and the local community. Mr. Ramirez shared details regarding previous TEACH Day-like events on campus which was spearheaded by TEACH Academy utilizing the 10001 Western Ave. parking lot. Mr. Ramirez mentioned that these included various carnival-like games, a gaming truck, dunk tank, etc. Mr. Ramirez further suggested that future TEACH Day can possibly include food options and to invite local community organizations to table. Mr. Ramirez suggested perhaps both a fall and spring event. Mr. Cordero inquired if TEACH ever hosted a Founders Day event. Ms. Rhee shared that previously TEACH would host a Founders Day to honor the legacy of both Ms. Morris and Ms. Cunningham which was similar to this TEACH Day idea. Mr. Ramirez mentioned that he will be in communication with Shawnna regarding logistics related to a TEACH Day-style event this academic year. Update soon.

The next TEACH Retention Committee Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 23rd at 11am.
Mr. Ramirez shared the importance of hosting a kickoff event specific to inviting 4th grade families to TEACH Academy which will include a presentation and a campus tour. Mr. Ramirez shared that this kick off event will spring board into a monthly open house for 4th grade families in visiting the campus. Mr. Ramirez suggested to all principals to please share a monthly date for these evening open house events at their respective campuses. Mr. Ramirez further suggested that perhaps Mr. DeWeerd can be invited to an upcoming Coffee with the Principal's meeting as well to introduce himself to TEACH Prep families, and to share kickoff/open house information. Ms. Rhee agreed to this idea.
