Sub-Committee Updates

Staffing: Meghan & Lindsey: 2 items on staffing: 1. Proposed part-time teaching aide in kindergarten for toileting issues; Does this position need to have training? 2. EC position for lower school- EC certification; did find someone with teaching certification and has certification in deaf & hard of hearing, adding on elementary Praxis for EC delivery. Position will start November 1.  Dave asked whether there are identified candidates ready to go to the board for a vote. Megan suggested staffing could be a bigger part of the school's growth picture. Suggested training the teaching aide as a life-skills support for students who need toileting and feeding support. Curriculum position still outstanding- Annie met with leadership staff on the position, getting input from the teachers; Lindsey is gathering feedback. Charlotte- concerned that the school does not have resources; not a volunteer position; the school needs additional support. Rooted in research and strong academic practices.  Position is happening, but still working on what the position is. Sarah- is it student-facing? Lindsey- haven't gotten that far.

STREAM: Dave, At retreat discussed what vision we have for STREAM. Charlotte provided a lot of detailed feedback from the pre-read with suggestions and resources to support the suggestions.  This will support the building blocks for developing STREAM.  Vision needs ot be tabled and taken back to the subgroup. Outcomes- taken from portrait of a graduate created by Kristin & Michael- to support those desired student skills, STREAM seems like a good program that intentionally gets at those skills. Wants to bring back to subcommittee before coming back to AC committee to review and refine.  Dr. Brown- comprehensive senior project- aligning it with the portrait of a graduate; each part will align with Hattie's and growth.

Academics (data) Pamela & Dave: presented at the last AC committee meeting- generated conversations for solutions- Lindsey & Mr. Trull generating conversations with grade bands- Lindsey suggested having another AC meeting- looking for an overarching statement on what we are trying to do, and Lindsey can work with the plan on how to implement. Sarah- 3-5 Band meeting- soft launch of a new plan after break to decide what staffing plan is needed and supplies. Made a lot of progress.

AI: Charlotte-have good first steps for classroom interventions across the whole school. Lindsey gave Charlotte access to the parent website. Starting a plan for PD.  Charter Collaborative Day- had some good sessions around AI that Tiffany and Scott led. Updated policies that parents sign with devices, which were safety measures, an assessment scale, and a need to distribute resources.

Climate: Meghan: taken all the data from past years and teacher working survey- extracted all the items from 7-12 students as a pilot to provide some feedback and worked through that at the last meeting. Will do that for teacher feedback, parent and lower school feedback. Using AI to help- starting to conceptually define climate at ERA. Working through the process through the rest of the year and be ready in January and create a new survey to keep an ongoing collection. Figuring what the deliverables are for this group to the larger AC.

B.

Review Deliverables Timeline

Two documents:

What is Board's relationship to the school? Lindsey got a lot of positive feedback

and a document sent out to the community. Next to include students and parents.

Deliverable timelines, including the subgroups shared with staff and AC. it is a lot of work. What are we promising?   Megan- It is hard to see where the climate subcommittee fits with the overarching goals. Possibly revise to include that with more clarity.  Comes back to staffing or priorities- increase capacity or decide what we can actually only take on-so much.

III. Other Business

A.

Teacher representation

Need to clarify role- from the last Board meeting, teachers to be included on the AC committee.  Lindsey and I will meet with Mike to create clarification of role.  Sarah- feels strongly that it should be a majority of teachers. Lindsey- we want to hear teacher feedback, but the committee has been chartered by the Board- could be something that goes through the teacher representation. More clarity on how committee meetings are run like board meetings or more open meetings for discussion.  Pamela & Lindsey will meet with Mike to clarify and send out as a pre-read.
