Call the Meeting to Order

E. Winn called a meeting of the board of directors of Forte Preparatory Academy to order on Wednesday May 27, 2026 at 6:35 PM.

Approve Minutes from April mtg.

E. Winn made a motion to Jennifer Cordero.
A. Espinosa seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

II. Finance Update

A.

Review of Financials

April YTD Financials

 

  • Enrollment budget vs. actual: Variances for middle school, high school and special ed was reviewed by Janeya from EdTech.
  • Budget vs. actual revenues: Grants on track. Contributions greater than expected due to capital campaign.
  • Budget vs. actual expenses: Lower than expected due to hiring decisions and upcoming expenses and updated facility expenses.
  • FY Budget vs. Forecast, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow also reviewed.

 

Proposed Budget for 2027

 

  • Next year we're expecting to end the year at a similar net income.
  • Reviewed an enrollment sensitivity analysis.

III. CEO Report - including summary of May event!

School Updates

General Updates

 

  • Updates about new high school building development.
  • Staff recognized for their time with Forte Prep, including varsity jackets for people who have been with FP for 7+ years.
  • Shared documentary with entire staff for the first time.

 

FP 2026 Premiere Fundraising Event Report

 

  • Came very close to reaching FP's fundraising goal.
  • Review of funder composition and corresponding donation percentages.
  • Reviewed what worked, what did not work and lessons learned.

 

Next steps

 

  • Current campaign tactics include sharing weekly segments fo the documentary via email.
  • Public phase of the campaign will be officially launched soon.
  • Also added sponsorship page on website, including sponsorship of classrooms.
  • Looking for in-kind donations (e.g., for outdoor furniture, artwork).

IV. Governance Committee

A.

Board Meeting Attendance Planning

Board proposed to meet a little earlier going forward at 6:00 PM, instead of 6:30 PM.

Board members committing to attend meetings in-person through the end of the year.

B.

Planning for Annual CEO Evaluation

We will be kicking off the annual CEO evaluation, which will be ready in June, for discussion during the June board meeting.
