E. Winn called a meeting of the board of directors of Forte Preparatory Academy to order on Wednesday Jun 18, 2025 at 6:41 PM.

Approve Minutes

V. Abrams made a motion to approve the minutes from Board Meeting on 05-21-25.
K. Mullen seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

II. Finance

A.

Finance and Budget Review

Janeya of EdTec reported on Forte Prep's May 2025 financial highlights and FY26 proposed budget.

 

 

I. May 2025 Financial Highlights

 

  • Enrollment (Budget to Projection): Variance of -$208K
  • Budget vs. Actuals: Variance of $809K, driven mainly by timing of Federal Grants Benefits & Insurances
  • Year to Year Comparison, May 31, 2024 vs. 2025: Variance of 14%
  • 2024-25 Full Budget vs. Forecast: Variance of -$27K

   

II. FY26 Proposed Budget

 

  • Reviewed key assumptions for budget
  • Updated FY26 proposed budget, expecting operating income of $230K

 

The board will vote on the budget. 

C. Cruz made a motion to Approve the FY26 proposed budget.
K. Mullen seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

III. Fund/Dev

A.

Capital Campaign Update

Graham Browne shared updates about the Capital Campaign.

 

  • The goal is to raise $2.5MM by fall 2026 to outfit the new high school facility.
  • Three phases: Feasibility Phase, Quiet Phase, Public Phase.
  • Board support needed to identify prospects, connect with major donors and support.

IV. CEO Report

A.

CEO Update - June 2025

Graham Browne shared FP community updates.

 

  • FP alum story: One of the original FP 5th graders is now headed to Harvard to study neuroscience.
  • First FP alumni day next week.
  • FP inspirational theater teacher will become a dean next year.
  • Students went on college trips in Boston, Providence, and New Haven.
  • FP celebrates Artivism in June.
  • 8th grade prom is on Friday.
  • Graduation on June 25.
  • Last day of school is June 26.

 

Carlos Mojica shared updates about facilities construction milestones.

 

  • Queens Blvd building has been topped off.
  • Framing is almost complete.
  • Model room construction underway.
  • Power expected by September.
  • Other systems and infrastructure being implemented.

 

Graham Browne provided an update on the capital campaign.
