RECAP of TOPICS DISCUSSED on 09/14/22:

 

  • School Opening a success.  Busing issues were challenging.  School-based personnel worked to resolve.
  • Structure of Academic Committee meeting will have DTL as point person with ED as support or focused topic-resource.
  • Staffing at 100% level.
  • Paring of experience teachers as mentors for 10 new teachers will be supportive, as well as professional development in special education/IEP flow; classroom management; Covey's Lighthouse Team; Envision Math; Core Collaborative; expanded ELA block, math movement; expanded coverage by Literacy for Life consultant; trips and effective background knowledge.
  • Impact of Core Collaborative.
  • MAP testing will be conducted in a week.
  • 100% of counseling mandates being met.  OT? PT?
  • After school programming will focus on "cusp" students--i.e., high 2's to 3's; high 1's to 2's.
  • Standardized test scores still embargoed.
  • Physical test-prep will be incorporated into school programming.
  • Meeting with Core Collaborative/MAP needed to understand relationship between MAP and NYS standardized scores
  • Writing will be incorporated and emphasized in curriculum planning.

Benchmark 1: Student Performance: The school has met or come close to meeting student
achievement goals for academic growth, proficiency, and college and career readiness on state
standards and achievement goals outlined in the school’s charter.


Benchmark 2: Teaching and Learning: School leaders have systems in place designed to
cultivate shared accountability and high expectations and that lead to students’ well-being,
improved academic outcomes, and educational success. The school has rigorous and coherent
curriculum and assessments that are aligned to the Common Core Learning Standards (CCLS)
for all students. Teachers engage in strategic practices and decision-making in order to address
the gap between what students know and need to learn so that all students experience consistent
high levels of engagement, thinking and achievement.
