II. School Updates

A.

MS Progress to Goals

The middle school PTG presentation was discussed, with Ms. Neal providing an overview of the action steps taken in cycle two, including focus areas and specific dates for activities. The section delved into the strategic focus areas and action plans for the middle school, with a specific emphasis on student growth achievement, ADA, and mentoring effectiveness.

HS Progress to Goals

Nilesh Patel presented data on achievement and growth in math and reading for ninth and tenth grades, highlighting challenges in specific subjects and the impact of curriculum on test scores. He outlined plans for an EOC style bootcamp to improve performance and align assessment styles with the curriculum.

III. Ignite Tutoring Program

A.

Semester One Overview

Adaure Nduka from Kairos Academies High School presented an overview of the Ignite Semester Program, a virtual tutoring option for students with a focus on eighth-grade math. She shared the program's achievements, challenges, and action steps for improvement, emphasizing the need for alignment between the tier one eighth-grade curriculum and the Ignite curriculum, establishing attendance expectations, and ensuring students understand their data and attendance requirements.

IV. Mini-lesson: MOY NWEA Testing Overview

Testing Updates

Lauriel Bristol provided an update on high school testing data, highlighting the efforts made to catch up with missed testing. She also discussed the identification of "ghost scholars" and outlined the action steps to improve enrollment and proactive intervention before testing. Additionally, she mentioned the upcoming NWEA and EOC testing schedules.

V. McKinney Vento review

A.

McKinney practices

Francelle Neal, School Counselor is the McKinney-Vento liaison for Kairos Academies for SY 23-24.

 

Ms. Neal provided an update on the McKinney-Vento Homeless Act, highlighting the support provided to unhoused and transitioning students at Kairos.

 

There are currently four unhoused students in the middle school and seven unhoused students in the high school who receive bus passes.

 

The Operations Team informed Ms. Neal that on incoming student is unhoused; she will be connecting with those parents as soon as they are fully enrolled and sharing resources with them.
