W. Middleton called a meeting of the board of trustees of Rochester Academy Charter School to order on Friday Sep 18, 2026 at 5:19 PM.

Approve Minutes

C. Sampson made a motion to approve the minutes from Board Meeting on 08-11-26.
G. Tillery seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

Approve Board Retreat Minutes

G. Tillery made a motion to approve the minutes from Board Retreat on 08-11-26.
C. Sampson seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

II. Academic Excellence

A.

Monthly Topic

J. Doyle delivered a presentation on Grades 3–8 State Assessment and Regents examination outcomes as part of the ongoing Wildly Important Goal (WIG) monitoring process. The data indicates that Regents scores and graduation rates remain significantly higher than similar schools in the local area; however, targeted improvement remains necessary for Grades 3–8 state assessments. Notably, the WIG target has already been met in three state test categories.

Presentation of Monthly School Activities Report

Z. Ercan provided an update on events held over the summer and at the start of the school year.

IV. Finance and Facilities

A.

Enrollment

The enrollment goal has been reached as of today. The Admissions Office is currently filling vacancies resulting from student no-shows.

Financials

D. Ozcan delivered the monthly financial report summary.

V. Governance

A.

Review Revised Code of Conduct

C. Sampson made a motion to approve the minor revisions made to the Code of Conduct.
G. Tillery seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

B.

Adding a Board Member

C. Sampson made a motion to start the process for adding Destiny Bowman to the RACS school board.
G. Tillery seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

A.

Employee Changes Review

C. Sampson made a motion to approve the staffing changes.
G. Tillery seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

VII. Closing Items

A.

Board Meeting Evaluation

It was a productive meeting with more time dedicated to academics and a lot of business accomplished. Great meeting overall.

There being no further business to be transacted, and upon motion duly made, seconded and approved, the meeting was adjourned at 7:04 PM.
