Call the Meeting to Order

W. Middleton called a meeting of the board of trustees of Rochester Academy Charter School to order on Tuesday Jul 28, 2026 at 5:03 PM.

Approve Minutes

G. Tillery made a motion to approve the minutes from Board Meeting on 06-24-26.
J. Santos seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

II. Academic Excellence

A.

Monthly Topic

J. Doyle presented the Wildly Important Goals (WIG) Scoreboard summarizing the 2025–26 school year. Highlights included:

Academic Growth: Students demonstrated measurable progress across academic areas.

Attendance: The reduction in chronic absenteeism achieved two years ago was successfully maintained throughout the 2025–26 school year.

Discipline: End-of-year data reflected a decrease in overall disciplinary referrals.

Additionally, J. Doyle presented the parent engagement data, followed by a summary of the parent survey results shared by M. Demirtas.

III. Community Outreach

A.

Presentation of Monthly School Activities Report

Z. Ercan presented the graduation video and expressed gratitude to the board members for their attendance.

IV. Finance and Facilities

A.

Enrollment

Z. Ercan presented the enrollment numbers for the 2026–27 school year, commending the admissions office for successfully filling seats with new enrollments.

B.

Elementary School Buildings Connection Project

The Board decided to table this item to request further design details. A final decision will be made after reviewing plans for a more permanent connection between the two buildings.

C.

Educational Service Contract Renewal

J. Santos made a motion to approve the contract renewal for Curriculum Associates products.
G. Tillery seconded the motion.

The effectiveness of the program will be evaluated jointly by the Academic Excellence Committee and the Finance Committee at the conclusion of the school year.

The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

D.

Financials

D. Ozcan presented the financial summary for the 2025–26 school year. Finalized numbers will be presented by the auditors in fall 2026.

V. Governance

A.

Discuss Professional Development Opportunities

This item was deferred for discussion at the upcoming Board Retreat.

B.

Discuss August Retreat Meeting Details

The retreat agenda will align closely with the previous year's format. The Development Committee requested a 15-minute time slot to present their agenda items. The Governance Committee requested a 30-minute time slot to discuss state action plan.

Board Meeting Evaluation

Great job overall. Continuing to prioritize our Wildly Important Goals and allocating the majority of meeting time toward strategic discussion on achieving them remains a key strength.
