Review Progress on WIG

Cyndy reported an increase in attendance, particularly due to state testing requirements for grades 3, 4, and 5. She noted that behaviors remained stable but students were showing shorter fuses, with testing schedules affecting fifth grade students across multiple days last week. A concerning dip in kindergarten i-Ready completion at 65% was identified and they are investigating the cause, specifically focusing on one teacher's classroom.

Samuel reported that attendance remained steady with improvements in academics and behavior across grades, particularly due to unannounced hall sweeps reducing tardies. Jen discussed middle school updates, noting high attendance and the start of state testing, which temporarily disrupted instruction and iReady requirements. The three-week average attendance rates were 91.65% for elementary, 90.65% for middle, and 83.86% for high school, with chronically absent rates ranging from 24% to 46% across different grade levels.

B.

Staffing Plan

Jen reported that proposed staffing changes for 2026-27 are minimal, with the current plan working well despite a low teacher-to-student ratio and expected 2-3 additional students per class. The only identified need is for an additional full-time secretary at the elementary level to help with attendance and address rising chronic absenteeism rates. Special education and ENL teacher positions may be considered in September after enrollment data is confirmed.

The team discussed their successful recruitment efforts at a hiring fair, where they interviewed 30-40 candidates and extended conditional offers to four viable certified teacher candidates who all accepted.

Respectfully Submitted,
