GENERAL PURPOSE

 

The governance committee is commissioned by and responsible to the Board of Directors to:

  • assume the primary responsibility for matters pertaining to Board of Directors recruitment, nominations, orientation, training, and evaluation in accordance with the bylaws of the organization, and;
  • establish policies and practices to recommend for approval by the Board of Directors.

 

II. New Policies
  A. Narcan Policy
   

Review a draft of Policy to be presented by Travis following input from the District Leadership Team on 1/27/23.

 

Existing JLCD Administration of Medication to Students from 9/12/12

Original draft versions of JLCD-2021 and JLCD-R obtained from DW incorporating Narcan for reference.

 

III. Governance Committee
  A. Board Self Assessment & Goals - Update
   

Review status of goals and discuss any necessary next steps.

 

  1. Board development - quarterly trainings, goal setting updates
  2. Review Board Calendar for the year - decide when/how to share with full Board for reference
  3. Board manual - communicate Board Member expectations - review draft and plan when/how to share with full Board
  B. Policy Audit - Update
   

Review next steps on the following policies presented to the full Board for adoption of revisions in one reading in January 2023.

 

  • GCOC - Evaluation of Administrative Staff. - check revision status
  • BEDH - Public Participation at Board Meetings - check revision status
  • ADC Tobacco Use and Possession - check revision status

 

Review next steps for the following policies presented to the full Board for a first reading in January 2023, in preparation for the second reading and adoption in February:

 

  • BEB.- Board Member Use of Social Media
  • DN - School Properties Disposition

 

Review next steps on the following policies presented to the full Board for a first reading in January 2023 to consider elimination, in preparation for second reading and ELIMINATION in February:

BHC - Board Communication with Staff 8/29/12. Updated draft for review with - legal changes in 2021 - TA

 

  B. Review relevance of BIC-E Certificate of Completion of FOA Training
   

BIC-E  Certificate of Completion of Freedom of Access Training 8/29/12

 

Training is required by law and needs to be completed w/i 120 days of election date.

 

Does not need to be a policy, so could eliminate or keep this as reminder.

V. Other Business
 

Review Tracking Document to check if current with adoptions/reviews that have happened to date and decide on next policies to review/revise.

Suggest we prioritize for March full Board meeting the following policies to update because they are not in compliance with recent legal changes that took effect 2021-2022:

JKA - Corporal Punishment

JKAA - Use of Physical Restraint and Seclusion

JKAA-R - Use of Physical Restraint and Seclusion - Procedures

JKF - Disciplinary Removal of Students with Disabilities

JKF-R - Disciplinary Removal of Students with Disabilities - Procedures

JLCB- Immunization of Students

JLCC - Communicable/Infectious Diseases
