II. Academic Excellence

A.

End of the Year Staff Satisfaction Survey

We discussed plans to use the same survey as the one we ran in December. We will use May 22 as an incentive. Those staff who have completed the survey can leave with students on May 22. We need send our as soon as possible.

B.

National School Climate Survey

Elana shared the preliminary numbers on responses from the climate survey. We currently have 109 student responses (~98%); 20 out of 30 faculty (57%) and only 31 families. The organization who wrote the survey says 20 - 30% response rates for families is realistic. We would like to get more than 31 so that we have enough data to consider it valid. We plan to try one more push for the families to see if we can get more responses.

We discussed looking at data next month. We also discussed what else we might do in the future for a better family response rate. A shorter survey? Add incentives?

C.

Review Preliminary Benchmark Date and Spring Benchmark Testing

We have a new tool for benchmark assessment. It is the CDT and is aligned with PSSAs.

We looked at examples of the preliminary bench marking and growth data.

The specialists will use the data to bring data to the grade-level teams and help run a jigsaw exercise so there is time for meaning-making, and development of recommendations to the school about what shifts we make institutionally, pedagogically, and for social-emotional learning for the next school year. We shared suggestions on how to make the most of this exercise.

III. Closing Items

Respectfully Submitted,
J. Lewis
