Call the Meeting to Order

M. Rosenberger called a meeting of the Academic Excellence Committee of Vida Charter School to order on Monday Jan 11, 2016 at 3:35 PM.

Approve Minutes

A. Kittelberger made a motion to approve minutes from the Academic Excellence Committee Meeting on 12-07-15 Academic Excellence Committee Meeting on 12-07-15.
C. Maldonado seconded the motion.

II. Old Business

A.

Reporting: Student Data alignment with Curriculum

Presentation to Academic Excellence Committee by Maribel Gonzalez, Vida's Math Specialist/Data Coach.  Gonzalez discussed why data is collected in schools and how to use data.  She discussed the data gap and how schools close the gap.   She reviewed the 3 tiered Response to Intervention and what interventions Vida uses.  Ms. Gonzalez reviewed classes recent performance data and compared with prior years.  Vida currently uses PSSAs - English, NWEAs - English and Spanish tests, and IPT - oral Spanish.

B.

SPED review and revision recommendations

Cynthia is working with Leia Kissick to revise and add policies as Vida prepares for likely 16-17 Special Education audit.

C.

Report cards and quarterly reporting - HOLD for January

14th of January is last day of quarter.   Report cards are to go out on the 19th. Testing results will be sent out at that time.

III. New Business

A.

Math and/or Social Studies Curriculum Review

Recommend 2-3 experts to review mathematics curriculum now and social studies in spring. Mrs. Maldonado is to reach out to community experts to seek support with identifying possible curriculum and people who could evaluate and prepare a report for school.  Some resources could be from Dual Language schools, Center for Applied Linguistics, Shippensburg /Millersville teachers.

B.

After School 21st Century Funding

Respective Solutions was awarded a 21st Century PDE grant to implement free after school programming in Adams County.   Amelia Contreras discussed the benefits this will provide Vida students.  More information will be sent out with students this week.
