We will share the statements that we found and collect key elements from all the statements that we wish to use in our statement.  We want our statement to address what we do and why we do it.  (a value and mission statement).  The goal here is to get all our opinions heard and have an outline of what we need to include in our final draft.

On Monday, Jan. 20, at 9:30 a.m., the Marblehead Racial Justice Team will present its first Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Community breakfast at Old North Church, 35 Washington St. The event is free and open to all.

 

The 90-minute program will include:

  • Readings of Amanda Gorman’s poetry. Gorman is an award-winning writer and Harvard University graduate who recited a poem at President Joe Biden’s inauguration.
  • Presentation of “The Last Song of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.” by Cheryl Boots, a retired Boston University professor and singer/songwriter.
  • Time for conversation.

A free-will donation of low-salt canned meat or meaty soup for the Marblehead Food Pantry, or grocery store gift cards, are welcome.
