Mission:

The Mission of Brevard Academy is to prepare its students to achieve academic excellence through the Core Knowledge Sequence. Through a partnership involving students, teachers, and parents the school strives to create citizens with strong moral character and active intellectual inquiry.

Vision:

Brevard Academy: A Challenge Foundation Academy (BA-CFA) a K-8 public charter school develops and encourages motivated, intellectually curious students who are skilled in critical thinking, individual expression, and problem-solving. From their diverse backgrounds, students accept our challenge to pursue personal and academic excellence. Through this pursuit, they become confident members of their community who lead by serving others.

Call the Meeting to Order

Ted Duncan called a meeting of the Fundraising Committee of Brevard Academy to order on Thursday Dec 12, 2024 at 8:33 AM.

Approve Minutes

Jennifer Silva made a motion to approve the minutes from September Fundraising Meeting on 09-12-24.
Tyree Griffin seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

II. Development

A.

Fundraising Discussion and Update

Hurricane Helene Relief

  • $21,615.35
    • Lincoln Charter--$10,000.00
    • Bradford Prep--$500.00
    • Falls Lake Academy--$4,807.00
    • Carolina Charter PTO--$233.00
  • These funds will be used to pay for food, after-care, and direct donations to families and staff members affected by the hurricane.
  • Excess funds will be used to supplement academic remediation.
  • Mr. Duncan will work with counselors and the business manager to see if there are still needs from the hurricane.
  • Mr. Duncan will share the staff and family donations spreadsheet at the next meeting.

Fundraising Strategy

State of Charter Dinner

  • March 7
  • Deerwood Reserve
  • Mr. Duncan is currently looking at menus for food.
  • Dinner, Raffle to the local businesses, music, and minor auction.
  • Ticket Price will be at least $75.00

Business After Hours through the Chamber

  • We will host an After-Hours on October 14, 2025.

Key Falls Inn Dinner

  • This has been postponed for a warmer day.

III. Closing Items

Announce Date of Next Meeting

February 13, 2025 at 8:30 at Brevard Academy.

Adjourn Meeting

There being no further business to be transacted, and upon motion duly made, seconded and approved, the meeting was adjourned at 8:54 AM.
