The purpose of the Consent Agenda is to act upon routine matters in an expeditious manner. Items placed on the Consent Agenda as determined by the Chair, in cooperation with the HOS, are those that are considered common to the operation of the Board and normally require no special board discussion or debate. A board member may request that any item on the Consent Agenda be removed and inserted at an appropriate place on the regular agenda. Items on the Consent Agenda for this meeting include:

We did not approve the July Financials in August because the Board met on August 7th, prior to a date when the financials could appropriately be generated. Approval of the School-Specific Goals. These were first presented during the August 2026 Board Retreat. They must be approved by the Board for the Charter School Commission (our authorizer).

 
     
  D. Additional Compensation for Special Education Teachers- Overload Pay Vote Cassie Anderson 2 m
   

This board resolution establishes overload pay for special education teachers when they exceed their caseloads. This is similar to the overload compensation adopted for the 25-26 school year. 

 
     
  E. 5011 – Sexual Harassment of Spokane International Academy Staff Prohibited and 5011P-Procedure - Sexual Harassment of Spokane International Academy Staff Prohibited Vote Cassie Anderson 2 m
   

This is a required update to 5011 – Sexual Harassment of SIA Staff Prohibited and 5011 P, which outlines the procedural response. Both policies were initially adopted by the Board in August 2021.  Included is a chart for easy reference, which explains the changes from the previous policies to the current revised policy, as well as the two new updated policies presented for board approval.

This policy provides the required revisions to the LAP Policy 2108, previously adopted by the board in April 2020. Included is a chart describing the changes from the old policy to the current proposed policy, as well as a full policy for board review and vote.

Rebecca Thomas is the Interim Executive Director for WA Charters. She assumed her role in August 2026. She is joining us virtually to introduce herself, give highlights of WA Charters' current priorities, and discuss the ways the SIA Board can support their efforts.

The school shall comply with RCW 42.30 and 42.56, as well as the 2023 updates to RCW 28A.710.030. All administrative staff and board members shall complete required training. Schools must collect evidence of all Board Members and Administrative Staff completing annual training to support the effective operation & oversight of the charter school within 90 days of active membership (or of employment, for staff):
