The treasurer highlighted concerns with the budget deficit projected by the end of the academic year.
Stressed the importance of keeping 30 days of cash on hand at all times for operational health.
Inquired about any short term immediate end of year fundraising campaigns. Currently there were no plans as previous attempts to do social media posts for fundraising campaigns only solicited a few hundred dollars. Will continue to look at the long-term plan, targeting larger donations not only looking locally but nationally as well. There have been on-going attempts to communicate with prior donors on the Giving Wall in the school who have not yet given again.
Some difficult decisions regarding staffing may need to be made in order to try keep on budget.
Recognize that there are movements to cut funding from charter schools to redirect to traditional public schools. The district superintendent continues to try advocate on behalf of the charter school district. The school leader has a meeting with Senator Malloy to ask for guidance on how to advocate best for our school.
