Discussion: Slate of Officers for 2023-24

What is the most important when considering officers? Year long continuity or getting in "new blood" to become more engaged?

The Clerk is a very important role. We got noted by DESE to be more mindful of this area in the past.

The Vice Chair was added to the PVPA ByLaws recently. So, it's not a legally required role besides our bylaws.

Slate we plan to put forward -

Chair: David

Vice Chair: Latrina

Clerk: Shino

Treasurer: Neil

Shadow Officer: Azizah

ByLaw Updates Discussion

Timeline discussed.

C.

Review of new policies presented by Head of School

No policy from Brent this year. Brent plans to bring the new accountability plan to the full board at the next meeting that has provisional approval. The board will be asked to approve it, and then it is submitted to the commissioner, who then recommends it to DESE formally. This means that the annual report due August 1 will be according to that accountability plan, rather than the outdated one.

It's not just a policy, which is why Brent isn't bringing it to the Gov Committee mtg, but just straight to the full board.

Some changes:

We will no longer include standard based grading... we won't be getting rid of that in practice, but it's not linked to our mission. This plan will include multiple learning styles goals. Most of this accountability plan links back to our original charter application and mission. This will also focus more on putting PVPA out into the community.

III. Other Business

A.

Confirm Monthly Meeting Time

We won't plan to meet over the summer (like the full board).

Adjourn Meeting

There being no further business to be transacted, and upon motion duly made, seconded and approved, the meeting was adjourned at 8:02 PM.

Respectfully Submitted,
Shino Pichette
