ED Report

MM updated the committee on multiple factors that impact academic achievement.

A Parent Leadership Committee has begun- great to bring family involvement into community.

The Lower Academy team is celebrating individual top end achievement and growth in literacy. 7th and 8th grade on track in their overall growth towards goals. 6th grade has interventions in place to gain more traction.

Enrollment is solid overall with a waitlist in 6th and 8th grade. LACS will look to maintain interest and capture these students in the future since it is unlikely they will come off waitlist now. Recruitment for 2023-4 has begun!

There has been a gap in IEP compliance, but services are now in place and MM expects a significant change in the coming months.

Attendance has been hit by colder weather/ illnesses, but LACS remains committed to connecting with these families and offering credit through buy-back days. Planning extra school for those in need during February break.

Some suspensions have cropped up in UA for vaping and behavior that goes against community expectations- important to address, but also important to try to keep suspension numbers down. MM addressing with some thoughtful restorative exercises that he runs himself with students.

Working with his team, MM developed a comprehensive scorecard for both academies to evaluate the most significant areas of LCAS. This will be a highly valuable tool to effectively evaluate leadership and determine areas for celebration and growth at the end of the school year.
