Committee Roles & Operating Procedures Clarification

Pamela and Lindsey met with Mike from BoT for clarity and guidance.  In general, committees should run like a board meeting:

  • quorum,
  • strive for simlarity across committees,
  • publish minutes,
  • post when having meetings,
  • structure on membership.
  • Chair decides public comment format - live or submitted.

Decision by Pamela (chair):

  •  This AC will not have a public comment period in the meetings.  Publc (i.e. individuals not on the AC) are welcome to come and listen and can then go through whatever channels appropriate for them with comments.  Time challenges doing it otherwise.
  • Active teachers will not be made part of the AC.  Pamela encourages teacher forums with their leadership for voice to be heard and brought forward through leadership.

Lindsey shared that Dr Brown and Ms Martin are taking steps to gather teacher feedback prior to AC meetings and asks for agenda to be posted in advance to allow this (7-10 days prior would be helpful).

B.

Listening Session Update

LIndsey shared outputs from listening sessions with AC members ahead of the meeting.

Key highlights:

  • everyone recognizes the data and growth concerns
  • phenomenal meetings
  • teachers to have voice
  • see board members

Teachers want:

  • more access to data
  • time to review data
  • curriculum alignment and map
  • supports across learner needs/interventions - AIG need in particluar
  • shared goals
  • definitions around STREAM
  • teacher voice and perspective
  • allow time for changes to take hold

Lindsey shared a "what can we do right now?"  with a 2026-27 iLEadr proposal which includes:

  • Tier 1
  • support for vertical curriculum map
  • 2x/month to faciliate ELA and Math PLCs
  • differentiated PD options for halfdays

UDL is actively being explored.  Longer term uptake, could be expensive.

MagicSchoolAI can also be a tool

Work with iLeadr to stop gap plus help set a foundation for these longer-term projects

Megan shared support for building a vertical curriculum.  Asked about how we can tie this work more strongly with STREAM.  Encouraged competitive bids and is unsure of what the other options are.

Charlotte advocates for STREAM coordinator ASAP.  Does not think UDL should be as expensive as the initial Cast proposal.  Concern with moving forward with other academic approaches keeps STREAM from being taken up.  Only found out about MagicSchool today, and as the AI lead, feels less connected.  Wants AI to be implemented thoughtfully and can help with considerations based on her extensive work in this area.

Dave recognizes the trade-off between the need for a near-term solution with iLeadr with the strategic importance of UDL and is hopeful that related aspects of the iLeader metrics can emphasized.

In response to the initial iLeadr SWOT, Charlotte believes this is a good starting point and there are certainly items from teh SWOT that can help with outcomes if addressed.

C.

2027-2028 calendar review

Calendar was presented.

Half days are being designed

  • for club opportunities for students.
  • Cast would provide year-long UDL teacher training should we move forward with them.

Charlotte asks for a review of Wed half days to be more convenient for families, perhaps on Mon or Fri and considered in context of other events on the calendar.  Support expressed by Pamela and Megan as well.  Ms Martin and Dr Brown support the move and mention requirements for teachers making up missed PD. Team had live discsusion on specific changes to calendar.

Committee ended up agreeing to the changes and Lindsey to send out to all and then bring the new version to next board meeting for approval.

Charlotte Dungan left.
Lindsey Sealy left.
