Brown Act Training w/YMC
Jerry Simmons of YMC LLP delivered a training session on Brown Act and Conflicts of Interest.
Board members were trained on the ways to conduct board members as well as ways to ensure that the board does not create compliance issues.
Jerry also discussed new laws around board members attending meetings virtually.
In addition, Jerry discussed ways that conflicts of interest could happen for board members and advised the board on ways to avoid conflicts of interest.

Peter Gillin and Lois Mufuka Martin delivered a presentation on suggested best practices for a high performing board.
The transition from a founding board to a transition board was discussed.
The roles of board members and ways to develop a strategic plan were discussed.
Board members asked questions about ways to evaluate the new Executive Director as well as how to interact with faculty and staff when on campus.
Additionally, Peter and Lois provided understanding on best practices regarding board governance.
