SY 20-21 Reopening Scenario Planning
New DESE guidelines were released about two weeks ago. Headlines: 1) Try to get as many students while adhering to guidelines in person as possible 2) 3 feet apart (as opposed to 6) is required 3) Create 3 plans, as the situation is always changing.
Based on the parent survey, about one third of respondents prefer a fully remote environment. The Veritas model of cohorts is well-suited to some of the recommendations, but we likely (still measuring) not be able to fit all students in the building and adhere to guidelines, so may need to explore a hybrid model.
Still waiting to hear what the SPS plan for transportation will be and how it will impact us. We are in communication with them.

Parent and Student Feedback on Remote Learning
Trends were interesting- parents commented on the need to understand the tech tools and expectations to better support their children. There is a plan to offer tutorial for Parents in the Fall to address that. Also taking into account the feedback around videotaped lessons being helpful for parents and students to be able to go back to. The team is exploring multiple technology tools that will aid teachers, students, and families to best access the learning.
III. Closing Items
A.
Adjourn Meeting
There being no further business to be transacted, and upon motion duly made, seconded and approved, the meeting was adjourned at 8:54 AM.
Respectfully Submitted,
D. Janes
One question that came up was the number of students that are exiting Special Ed and the number of Special Ed referrals. We will revisit that in a future meeting with Jonathan Swan present.
