V. KIPP Forward Update

A.

Updates on the KMCH Seniors and Grant received.

  • October 25th KIPP Memphis Collegiate High had several seniors that received full scholarships to attend Tennessee State University.
Note from Dr. Antonio Burt, CEO:
Dr. Antonio Burt: These students are really to be commended because when I look at the high school's infrastructure over the previous years, those kids did it in spite of scheduling chaos in spite of taking courses that are not prescribed in a Tennessee required course of study and In spite of not having teachers.  In a lot of instances, they still maintain the requirement that Tennessee state required in order to qualify for the scholarship.  I know that number may seem low when you think about 90 seniors, but it's still in spite of all the circumstances that they had stacked against them, due to the things that were beyond their control.

  • November 5, 2021 seniors attended the HBCU Admissions Fair.  Several of the scholars received acceptance letter on the spot and many applied for available scholarships
  • LeMoyne Owen College hosted a Spotlight Day for the surrounding high schools. KIPP  band performed on the campus of LOC and did an excellent job representing our community.
