D.

m-Class Dibels and iReady

Dr. Tate presented an update and overview of the following:

m-Class Dibels - MOY

  • Students met their middle-of-the-year (MOY) goal for M-Class doubles . In grades 3–5, all students met and exceeded their MOY goals, surpassing the expectations that were set.
  • Multisyllabic decoding is a daily instructional practice through 8th grade that focuses on breaking down words using prefixes, suffixes, and affixes to support meaning. The plan is to ensure consistent classroom implementation, correct instructional practices, and student comprehension.
  • The 6th grade did not meet their MOY Dibels goals.

i-Ready - MOY

  • KMCE, KMCM, and 9th grade, participation requirements were met, with at least 95% of students completing the assessment across the board.
  • iReady is used for math in grades K–8, while M-Class DIBELS is used for ELA; high school students take both reading and math assessments.

ACT Results

  • ACT data for 12th grade shows approximately102 students, with 31% scoring between 16–20. These students are being targeted for Jane Ross workshops and after-school tutoring before the March assessment to support growth toward a 21 or higher.

E.

Advanced Academics

Dr. Durham presented an update on the following:

FAFSA

  • FAFSA completion for the Class of 2026 is currently at 87%, with 88 seniors completed and 13 remaining. The school is four students away from the 90% goal ahead of the February 28 deadline, reflecting strong support systems and monitoring.

KIPP Forward

  • The Early Decision Cohort Dinner engaged students and families early, aligned expectations around admissions, timelines, and financial planning, and strengthened commitment to reduce summer melt and support on-time enrollment.

III. Committee Questions

A.

Committee Questions & Comments

  • The presentation was excellent, clearly identifying gaps and outlining a solid plan to address the issues.
  • The committee discussed the 4th and 8th grade ELA and math, noting 4th grade math declined from BOY. They discussed whether current results predict end-of-year outcomes and the implications of missing anchor metrics or the double AMO goal, including impacts on regional scores, individual ratings, and potential Foundation recommendations.
  • The committee discussed adding a report that tracks Tier 1 instruction prerequisites and student groupings to support small-group instruction which could be useful for addressing foundational skill gaps, which relate to one of the anchor metrics.
  • Committee Chair Gatson requested the iReady data and asked if the committee could receive the actual growth comparison report, showing beginning-of-year versus middle-of-year performance. She also asked for the same report for Ready Math.
    • The report is already generated and will be sent to the Academic Committee.

B.

Academic Excellence Chairperson Comments
