III. Director's Report

A.

School Updates

Academic Report presented by Courtney Whelton. Courtney spoke about changing the percentage to 75% for meeting requirements. Courtney reviewed charts of each grade with percentage of students meeting requirements. Courtney indicated that student finals are going on now & grades should be in over the next week for those grades. Each subject chart was reviewed: Science, Social Studies, ELA, Math, Spanish. 

Access testing has begun for grades K-12 & Map testing is finishing up. More details will be presented at next academic meeting.

Adam Bakr reviewed attendance percentage for K-5, 6-8, HS. Attendance rates are all in the 90 percent or above. Attendance officer has been doing an excellent job on chronic absenteeism. During the winter months attendance rates are impacted by the flu & other illness. Brain Chapman shared a contact with a program through Lowell General Hospital that is starting an outreach program for health options for schools. Adam Bakr will follow up.

Suspensions are down for the month vs previous month. Adam Bakr indicated that trends are going in the right direction.

Courtney Whelton reviewed upcoming professional development for teachers & staff that happened in January & February. Courtney reviewed the new teacher group has been meeting and is working on new techniques to be implemented. 

Our 8th graders will be participating in the NEAP tests in February for the 1st time. This text is offered to schools at no cost. This will compare students with other states as a whole. This is a national test.

Courtney Whelton reviewed curriculum updates for coordinators. Science received a Grant for 10,000 form a 3rd party OpenSciEd. Science curriculum labs are suing PLTW. Business program updates: students have been out in the community & 3 students have qualified with DECA program. Math 6-12 concept class was for students struggling students and this has worked well. Some of the students have returned to the regular classroom. Collegiate is adding an AP calculus class next year. MS teachers have been working with IXl to help support student learning. 

Arts & Music departments are getting ready for performances in April to follow up to winter performance. Collegiate MS art teacher has been implementing a program that has been well received by students.

ELA update. Savvas successmaker cumulative performance is being used for grade k-4. This has been well received by teachers for implementation of MTSS supports. This makes curriculum more cohesive amongst grades & classes. Teachers have been sharing the results with other classrooms & subjects. Thiis also will help with evaluation of teachers & staff.  

ST Math programs have been on-going in k-5 grades. This allows students to track their progress towards end of year goals.

4th Science have an upcoming workshop at the discovery museum. Collegiate has set up a STEM Instagram account to promote the activities in this area.

Calendar changes due to election. School will be closed on 2/3/26 & 3/3/26 for City of Lowell Election.

IV. Committee Reports

A.

Finance

Finance committee meeting reviewed November 2025 & December 2025. The finance committee discussion included a vote to approve the budget vs actual as presented.  

A. Miller made a motion to Accept the December 2025 & November 2025 Budget Reports.
D. Tucker seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

Academic Excellence

Next meeting is scheduled 2/10/25.

C.

Board Development (Fundraising)

Development committee meet last week. Bopha Malone presented updates on scholarship fundraising. Event will be held April 28, 2026 from 6-9 a murder mystery. The goal is raise funds through a dinner & event. Sponsorships will be solicited to help with fundraising. Board discussion regarding potential sponsorships from potential businesses.

Facilities Committee

Brian Chapman gave an update on facilities issues. Meeting with be held to discuss potential expansions for additional space on site.

Executive Director Support and Evaluation Committee

Meeting will be 2/11/25.
