II. Academic Achievement

HOS Report
- Lottery recruitment
- Having more opportunities to table and visit daycares and aftercare programs
- Hiring
- DCI - up to 5 strong candidates; working to follow up within 1-2 weeks on all communication
- Teaching candidate via sub agency
- Beginning to screen for 2022-23 vacancies as well
- Academic results
- December STEP assessment
- Not where we need to be
- Clear next steps include:
- Targeting spelling (that's a root of score gaps and students not advancing to next STEP level) - using sound segmentation skills and applying it here
- Cognitive load shift towards students
- Need more consistency in teacher prompts
- Tapping into STEP PD
- Sharing progress reports with families and increasing reps
- Students with IEPs
- 4 have not moved - working to better understand how barriers they face (e.g. fine motor skills) may be preventing them from demonstrating their knowledge
- 2nd grade is trending higher than last year at same time
- December STEP assessment
- Winter show - demonstration of Martial Arts!
- Enrichment continued while virtual
III. Other Business
A.
Org chart
- Considering additional DCI, so they split by K-2 and 3-5
- Considering additional Martial Arts teacher - add bandwidth there and more mid-day elective space for preps, too
- Consideration of additional elective slot, which could include survey to families
- Consider adding 1 teaching fellow per grade
IV. Closing Items
A.
Adjourn Meeting
There being no further business to be transacted, and upon motion duly made, seconded and approved, the meeting was adjourned at 5:09 PM.
Respectfully Submitted,
A. Jimenez-Schulman
