Call the Meeting to Order

F. Lin called a meeting of the board of directors of Forte Preparatory Academy to order on Wednesday May 15, 2024 at 6:40 PM.

Approve Minutes

Fiona Lin proposed we approve the April minutes.
Christine seconded.

The board voted to unanimously approve the April mintues.

F. Lin made a motion to approve the minutes from Fiona Lin Forte Prep Board Meeting on 04-17-24.
C. Padula seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

II. Finance Committee

A.

Review & approve 990 (2022)

Bryson Wilson presented the current financials.

Overall, strong financial position.

Projecting a $135K operating income for FY2025.

 

The Finance Committee will meet later this week.

 

We are scheduled to vote on the FY2024 budget at our June Board Meeting.

 

990 was filed earlier this week -- internal and public-facing documents. Submitted to government and also to SUNY.

III. CEO updates

A.

May 2024 updates

Graham updated the Board on various activities including.

-- Charter Gala, which a number of Board members attended.

-- 5/6th graders had a successful camping trip to Fishkill, NY

9th grade field trip to Philadelphia 5/20-22
End of year music show at the high school 5/30

GRADUATION - June 25th, 2pm, Queens College

Possible ground-breaking for the new building the week of June 17th

 

Enrollment for next year is going very well. Middle school is 98% enrolled and the high school is 78% enrolled. 35% of FPA 8th graders have registered for FPA high school.


New building: we expect to hear news of the financing from LIIF soon.

 

Fundraising -- Following up on board member interest and ideas, Graham has developed a Sports Sponsorship Campaign to raise dedicated funds for FPA sports teams. Need is ~$25K/year.
 

Hiring -- Good progress in hiring teachers, a social worker, etc.

The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.
There being no further business to be transacted, and upon motion duly made, seconded and approved, the meeting was adjourned at 7:35 PM.
