Call the Meeting to Order

F. Lin called a meeting of the board of directors of Forte Preparatory Academy to order on Wednesday Oct 19, 2022 at 7:04 PM.

Approve Minutes

F. Lin made a motion to approve the minutes from Forte Prep Board Meeting on 09-21-22.
L. Friscia seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

II. Finance

Review Financial Update

Review of financials from summer 2022.

FP remains in strong financial position and will remain for rest of fiscal  year.

III. Governance

Committee Update

Opening for vice chair with Fiona becoming chair of Board

Nov 1 will be talking to SUNY board re: addendum to charter.  At present only Fiona and Lisa to be present for meeting.

Academic Achievement update from committee meeting.

Committee Update

Event for December 2022; discussion of using Arlo Soho for event space. 

Graham managing private fundraising front for FP.

Event expectations -- come to event, bring guests, sponsoring teacher, silent auction donation items.  

Doodle pool with December dates.

Katie raised idea of raising money for families at FP who need items during holidays.

Giving Tuesday is big push for donations.

VI. ED Update

A.

General Update

Discussion of HS authorization process, including SUNY meeting, NYC-DOE meeting and approval date (Dec 15).

Completed HS visit series earlier this month.  Takeaways for college placements and ongoing support provided.

Received LOI from Redeemer School in Glendale

Discussing with developers for long-term space options

8th graders involved in HS placement process over next few months; offers announced in March; charter offers in April.

Students also applying to private schools.

 

Discussion of staffing updates at FP.  Working to replace some teachers who recently departed.

 

Enrollment at 349; target is 360; enrollment across Queens in down.

 

Summary of Academic Achievement Data for Board.  

Discussion of how to translate effect size into years of growth.

 

Next month board meeting 6 pm start.
