Team discussed the option of these meetings virtually at a time more convenient for us.

Mid-Year STEP Data Discussion

Closing out phase 1: Walking teachers through how to deconstruct standards, stamp key points, and build direct instruction.  We see growth based on observations and feedback. Metrics were reviewed: Reviewing standards, key points, content basesd strategies displayed, students naming the objective.

46% are on or above level in STEP

K: 69% made step progress

1st 67% made step progress

2nd 52% made step progress

3rd: 60% made step progress

 

The goal was 1 step level growth.

Largest % increase in those now on or above grade level is K with a 35.1% increase.

 

A comparison was made between last school year and this school year.  Schoolwide there was a 13.3% increase in those at or above grade level this time last year.

 

Feedback is that students are on a good growth trajectory. Focus on exit tickets will help to build on this growth.

 

Next steps:

  • Intervention aides will pull targeted small groups that consist of scholars 2+ step levels below target.
  • Teachers will engage and calibrate in whole school intervention strategies for the top 2 components with the highest need; Reading Accuracy & Segmentation. Science of Reading will continue to be a focus of PD.
  • Correlate Step growth with MAP growth in the next 2 weeks

J.Noel-Push is to look at the connection between growth in EL students

A.Pariano-- Look at the implications adminsitering of the K-2 test as opposed to 2 - 5 test.
