Serving Students in Grades 5 - 12
We seek to sustain an educational community where an emphasis on academic excellence is complemented by our concern for each learner’s personal growth and intellectual, aesthetic, and psychological development. The curriculum is developmentally responsive – actively engaging students in learning skills in context, integrative – directing students to connect learning to daily lives, and exploratory – enabling students to discover their abilities, interests, learning styles, and ways that they can make contributions to society.
Information on procedures for public comment can be found at https://www.seasideschools.net/domain/35.
If anyone needs special assistance to participate in the public input session, every effort will be made to provide an appropriate accommodation. When requesting accommodations for public input, please allow no less than 1 business day notice prior to the scheduled meeting.
Specific issues about a particular student should only be addressed to the school’s Director of Student Services, rather than the Board of Directors.
All public comments will be taken under advisement by the Board, but will not elicit a written or spoken response. The names of persons providing public comment and a brief summary of topics or input will be included in the meeting minutes published. A response will be provided to the stakeholder within seven (7) days.

B. | Audit Decision | Vote | 5 m | ||
After sending out 2 separate RFP’s via email to a list of 12 firms, I received 2 proposals for Seaside’s Audit services. From conversations with other accountants in our office, their number of received submissions were comparable. Some received 3 or 4 but still not a lot of response from such a large group of firms.
None the less a decision needs to be made so work can begin as quickly as the fiscal year closes. Seaside has an early deadline to turn in the audit to the district compared to some other districts. The final copy is due to the District no later than Aug 30. Typically this correspondence between the firm and the School is limited to myself and probably one to two other key staff members at the school.
I reviewed the attached proposals. Both are certainly qualified, however there is a good difference between their prices. King & Walker proposes to do the engagement for $14,800 including the Foundation portion for all 6 years of the engagement, whereas Thompson & Company proposals start at $21,120 and go up each year throughout the engagement and doesn’t specifically mention the Foundation requirements, I’d want to clarify that before engaging if they were the selected firm.
