September Finance Committee Meeting

This is a public meeting of the Finance Committee of the Board of Trustees of Northwood Academy Charter School that was properly advertised pursuant to the Pennsylvania Sunshine Act. The public meeting schedule is posted at the school and on the website.

 

Members of the public are welcome to attend and listen to the Finance Committee conduct its business tonight. All written comments submitted to the Committee via email (board@northwoodcs.org) will be acknowledged and incorporated into the official minutes. This meeting is accessible to the public via the remote platform Zoom and is being recorded.

Meeting will be conducted via Zoom platform with the ability to join via phone as well.

Call the Meeting to Order

K. Spraga called a meeting of the Finance Committee of Northwood Academy Charter School to order on Wednesday Sep 4, 2024 at 5:04 PM.

Record Attendance

Approve Agenda

K. Spraga made a motion to approve the agenda for the 9/4/2024 meeting.
M. McLeish seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

D.

Approve previous Meeting Minutes

K. Spraga made a motion to approve the minutes from August Finance Committee Meeteing on 08-07-24.
T. Hunt seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

II. Discussion & CBAs

A.

CBA 2024.90: Building Entry Beautification

K. Spraga made a motion to approve the Building Entryway Beautification.
C. Jones seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

B.

CBA 2024.91: Classroom Window Treatments

K. Spraga made a motion to approve the purchase of classroom window treatments.
C. Jones seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

C.

CBA 2024.92: Hiring of two additional SPED Teachers.

K. Spraga made a motion to change the request and approve the hiring if one SPED Teaher and one Speech/Language Therapist.
T. Hunt seconded the motion.

A discussion was had to change the CBA presented to the Board to request a Speech/Language Therapist and one SPED Teacher, due to the need for an in-house Speech/Language Therapist.

The committee VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

D.

CBA 2024.93: Hiring of an additional Security Guard

K. Spraga made a motion to approve the hiring of an additional security guard. The funds for this guard will come from a Security grant, making it cost neutral.
M. McLeish seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

E.

CBA 2024.94: Contracted Tech Support for September 2024

K. Spraga made a motion to approve the contracted tech support agreement for the month of September.
M. McLeish seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

F.

CBA 2024.95: Roof Repair by Bell Roofing

K. Spraga made a motion to approve the roof repair not to exceed $250k.
M. McLeish seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

G.

Resolution 2024.90: NACS Lease Reimbursement

The Leases Reimbursement will be presented in to Board at the next meeting,

H.

Resolution 2024.91: SPED Trust

The SPED trust have been signed off on and were presented to the Board in the last meeting for:

Le Ro $6,000

Al Ro for $3,000

Na Ro $16,500

III. Closing Items

A.

Adjourn Meeting

K. Spraga made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
T. Hunt seconded the motion.
The committee VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.
There being no further business to be transacted, and upon motion duly made, seconded and approved, the meeting was adjourned at 6:05 PM.
