SY25-26 Independent Study Policy
New guidelines spring 2025 to create an independent study policy and home-hospital instruction. Students cannot be placed on independent study as a punishment, and can be used for up to 15 days for emergency situations (excludes vacation). Services can be given online. If there is a need for more than 15 days of independent instruction, a schooling alternative would have to be made with the district. Home-hospital instruction is based on a medical team's advance (doctor's recommendation).
III. Executive Director Updates
A.
Update for SY25-26 Launch
Beginning work on charter renewal for Mission Prep. Over the past few years, we have increased the diversity of the student population, particularly African American students (2% to 6%), implemented math walkthroughs and teacher Peer Learning Groups, and there is now a student government body. SBAC data from 2024–2025 shows the MP is catching up with the state averages in ELA, science and math, and increasing language reclassification for long-term English Language Learners. There are four students who will be invited to an algebra class instead of Math 8 due to their success in the math portion of the SBAC.

Prop 28 requires that MP has a plan for arts education that is submitted to SFUSD. The proposition comes with funding to supplement arts education, which includes partnerships with community organizations that offer capoeira, Peruvian music, as well as an internal Mission Prep a winter and spring student showcase.
