Call the Meeting to Order

Teri Harrison called a meeting of the Program Excellence Committee of Menlo Park Academy Governing Board to order on Thursday Sep 11, 2014 at 5:15 PM.

II. Program Excellence

A.

Engineering & Entrepreneurship Program

Dr. Klipfell provided information about the plans for the MS science program this year and the Engineering & Entrepreneurship plans. The board advised that the intent is not for her to have to execute these programs on her own, but that she will design and plan them. They must be offered per the outline in the Program Guide.

Update on Course Guide

The group discussed the intent to review this in more depth at the next meeting and ensure the topics are transitioned for the best execution.

C.

Field Trip Schedule

Reviewed the plan for field trips for the year. D. Hieronymus will ensure the team is moving forward and advise where there are any issues.

D.

Enrollment Plans

Need to ensure we reach full enrollment ASAP. D. Hieronymus to advise if there are any barriers to this goal.

E.

Grading Policy

Ensure there is a clear understanding among the staff of summative vs. formative assessments and their role in MPA's grading policy. Summative must be a significant majority of a student's grade.

F.

Program Review

Engagement with 3rd party will begin soon.
