Remote Learning and Dashboard Updates

Updates on remote learning:
  • School admin confirmed lesson plans are on file
  • Exec.. Director (ED) indicated that for the first school year, NYSED does a baseline accountability report (desk audit).  As such no standardized assessment data is being requested
  • ED indicated that sped ed. services are documented and he is very confident regarding reconciliation for billing and audits
  • School admin. is working on promotion and grading policies and requested input from the BOT/AC members.  Policies will be mindful of the fact that our model functions under academic levels, not grade levels of students
  • Learning loss under the emergency COVID 19 environment will be significant, for all students, especially our BP students who have reading deficiencies, and therefore an extremely rigorous protocol is being planned for recovery, including set-aside periods during/after the school day
  • Curriculum must be modified to accommodate student's ability to meet NYS benchmarks
Dash Board Updates:
  • ED advised he will send a mock up of the dashboard to the AC so they can see the anchor standards that will be reported, and performance levels

III. Other Business

A.

Enrollment, HMH/OG Updates:

  • ED advised he has/will ask NYSED to adjust number of total seats from 138 to 148 throughout all grades.  This will allow for increased NYS funding, and additional seats in grades like the 3rd where there is a high demand for seats
  • The increase in each grade will be: 60 to 68 in 3rd grade (up to 23 seats in class); 55 to 57 in 2nd grade (up to 19 seats in class); 20 students in grade 1 (10 seats in class)
  • There is a scheduled call with Literacy for Life on 4/29 to begin services needed for next year
