Guillermina Gonzalez Board Chair Dr. Guillermina Gonzalez is a multicultural professional with experience in the United States, Mexico, and Europe in her successful career as an executive in both the corporate and the nonprofit sectors. She began her career working for multinational organizations such as ExxonMobil, Mars, Tetra Pak and Olivetti in marketing and sales. She then brought her corporate expertise to the nonprofit sector where she served as Executive Director of two advocacy organizations: Voices Without Borders and subsequently the Delaware Arts Alliance. Dr. Gonzalez is committed to community involvement and has served as Chair of the Americans for the Arts State Arts Action Network, Delaware’s NPR radio WDDE Community Advisory Board, Delaware State Arts Council, as well as on the boards of Christina Cultural Arts Center, Las Americas Aspira Academy, Delaware College of Art and Design, Metropolitan Wilmington Urban League, Latin American Community Center, and the AARP Executive Council to mention some of the more than twenty organizations she has collaborated with over the years. She was a member of Governor Carney’s and Governor Markell’s transition teams, the Hope Commission, Trustees of Color. Recognitions received include: Office of the Governor Statement of Appreciation in 2017 for services to the State of Delaware leading the Delaware Arts Alliance championing the arts in Delaware. Americans for the Arts Michael Newton Award in 2017, University of Delaware Alumni Achievement Award in 2014; Latin American Community Center Professional Achievement Award in 2015 and the Community Service Award in 2006. In 2018, she ran as Candidate for State Representative in District 22. As a media commentator, she has been published in The News Journal, WILMU Magazine, Delaware Today Magazine, Signature Brandywine, La Voz Latin Magazine, Hoy en Delaware, and El Tiempo Hispano. She has been a radio host for Delaware State of the Arts (1450 WILM News Radio/1410 WDOV), and Latinisimo (91.3 WVUD), the only program in Spanish from the University of Delaware where she had the privilege to interview the 2010 Nobel Prize winner in Literature, Mario Vargas Llosa. She also co-hosted The Latin Beat (1150 WDEL) for eight years. Dr. Gonzalez is an accomplished public speaker in both English and Spanish. Dr. Gonzalez has an MBA from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, where she taught marketing and business administration. She holds a Certificate in Leadership and Public Management and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from the University of Delaware. She received her Doctorate in Business Administration from Wilmington University where she is a Professor at the Doctor of Business Administration Program. Born in Mexico City, she came to the United States at the beginning of 2001 on an international assignment for ExxonMobil. She is married to Dr. Charles Sobrero retired from DuPont.

Keaira Fana-Ruiz Board Member Teacher Representative Keaira has been an employee of Las Americas ASPIRA Academy since March of 2017. She has held a variety of positions and roles at ASPIRA prior to becoming the 8th Grade ELA Humanities teacher. Keaira is currently the Step Team coach and Dance Company Director for both the ASPIRA High School and Elementary campuses. Keaira is one of the team liaisons on ASPIRA’s DEI team to further diversity and representation in the classrooms and curriculum. Recently, she was elected to the Planning Commission for the City of New Castle by city council. In 2021, Keaira received an award from the Hispanic/Latino Caucus of the University of Delaware for her impact and contributions in the Latino community of Delaware. She is also the author of the dual-language children’s book, “The Afro-Latino Alphabet – El Alfabeto de Afro-Latino.” Keaira obtained a Bachelor’s degree in English with a concentration in Ethnic & Cultural Studies and a Master’s degree in Education with a concentration in Special Education. Keaira proudly serves on the ADCO School Board as the Teacher/Staff Representative. Keaira has been happily married to her co-author, Jose Faña-Ruiz, for 4 years. She is the proud mother of Joseph and Amaya.

Renee Rhem Board Member Renee started her career with Subaru of America on November 30, 2020 as the new Vice President of the Customer Advocacy department. Prior to joining Subaru, Renee was the VP, Operations at Prudential. In this role she was responsible for leading the service delivery capabilities that enable a simplified, consistent and empathetic experience for Prudential’s beneficiaries across all domestic lines of business including claims processing and contact center operations. In addition to Prudential, Renee spent 9 years as a vice president at Independence Blue Cross (IBC), where she led Customer Service and later Sales Support. Before joining IBC, Renee spent 14 years with Bank of America (formerly MBNA America Bank). During her time at the bank she held a variety of officer roles in HR, Learning and Leadership Development, Diversity, Insurance Services, Customer Satisfaction and Business Development. Renee holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Spelman College in Atlanta, GA. She resides in Bear, DE with Bill, her husband of 26 years, their two teenage sons, Trey, 18 and Renard, 16 along with Coco, the family’s Yorkie. Renee is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Zeta Omega chapter and the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College. Most recently she’s spent her time volunteering for the Role Model Sports program supporting youth sports in the Delaware area. Over the years, Renee has been an avid supporter of the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. She served as corporate campaign co-chair for IBC as well as the Gala co-chair for the Annual Women’s Initiative dinner.
