3.  Changes to the building's historic appearance.

  B. COO Report on Construction & Campus Grounds Discuss Dan Alexander 10 m

Wheeler Kearns Architects was awarded the Honor Prize for Excellence in Interior Design, 5000+ Square Feet, by AIA Illinois, for the entire body of work with EMSA since the Art Barn.

The Admin Building Project passed all City of Elgin Occupancy inspections, the last on Friday August 11th, before occupancy 8.14.  All going as normal with bond financing payments.  Elevator is being constructed, and exterior doors installed. Both expected to be completed in September.  Minor punch list work nearing completion.   Hope to get permanent Certificate of Occupancy in October, but subject to City of Elgin.  City of Elgin has set a condition of proof of full payment of exterior utility company prior to its release of EMSA's ~$110,000 with City of Elgin, Engineering Division.

Parking improvements completed.  Staff parking has improved and parking on grass now rarely observed.

Green Guerrilla is proceeding with the rain garden work at north end of Admin, and near edge of parking opposite Gymnasium Building where logs and small rain gardens exist (all as previously approved by Board).  This will likely be complete by 9/25 as planting season is coming to a close.

Prairie plantings near Admin Building complete - paid for from construction funds as part of Admin Building project.  Western area "behind" Admin Building is not able to be landscaped within construction budget - also, not clear what vision EMSA has for this area, so deferring to Master Planning Committee.

Idea of having a partnership with a commercial firm which would place a clothing donation "box" on EMSA property for collection of clothing.

Question from Adam Gray - could EPTC help School to purchase Patio furniture for Patio?

  D. Facilities Reserve Fund Discuss Dan Alexander 20 m

What is the system for tracking and predicting facility needs that could use this fund?

The Committee discussed, and COO recommended, finding a highly qualified, independent consultant who could help lead a collaborative process to help to develop this system to track and predict facility needs that could use the $500,000 Replacement Reserve Fund.

Larry Kearns recommended Amy Preston's company.  See attached proposal from Preston Design & Construction Company.  The proposal was informed by a long site visit Ms. Preston did at EMSA, and her conversations with Dan, and WKA.
