Call the Meeting to Order

J. Jeakle called a meeting of the board of directors of Bold City Education, Inc. to order on Thursday Sep 17, 2026 at 4:31 PM.

Approve Minutes

G. Wheeler made a motion to approve the minutes from Board Meeting on 08-20-26.
E. Moore seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

II. Academic Excellence

A.

Open House for Prep and Primary Review

S. Thurlow spoke on attendance for Open House at Prep on September 16th. Only about 30 parents/families attended. Discussed Title I plans with parents.

 

S. Kahn spoke on attendance for Open House at Primary on September 16th. 

B.

Federal Programs Ongoing

K. O'Connor spoke abnout Teacher Supply Assistance Funds for certified teachers for the 26-27 school year. Teachers will receive $350 to use for classroom assisstance.

 

K. O'Connor also spoke on reimbursement process beginning for title funding.

C.

Out-of-Field Teachers

S. Thurlow spoke about out-of-field teachers for Prep and Primary. Who is out of field and what for. 

 

E. Moore brought up concerns about previous out-of-field teachers at Cecil and how student learning suffered under the spanish teacher that was out-of-field. 

 

S. Thurlow reminded E. Moore that San Jose Prep and Primary have different demographics of teachers and students and that 95% of Prep's teachers are certified. The majority of out-of-field teachers are due to ESOL completion.

 

K.O'Connor spoke on different ESOL out-of-field areas based on teacher certification subject areas.

G. Wheeler made a motion to approve out-of-field teacher waivers.
E. Moore seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

III. Finance

A.

2026-2027 Teachers Salary Increase Allocation Plan

S. Flynn discussed and shared the Teacher Salary Increase Allocation. Spreadsheet was shared and shows that Bold City Education offers a bit more of an increase than what is mandated. Discussions were clarified about teachers in this area needing to have worked in public education in the United States for at least 10 years.

G. Wheeler made a motion to approve 2026-2027 Teachers Salary Increase Allocation Plan.
E. Moore seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

There being no further business to be transacted, and upon motion duly made, seconded and approved, the meeting was adjourned at 5:01 PM.

  • Public comment is only permitted at Board meetings.  Public comment is not permitted at Board workshops.
  • Any person may sign up for public comment or submit written public comments by emailing PublicComments@BoldCityEd.org at least four (4) hours prior to any Bold City Education Board Meeting.  Be advised that this email address will be used only for obtaining public comments for Bold City Education Board Meetings and should not be used for any other purpose or question.  All emails received will be retained as public records pursuant to chapter 119, F.S.
  • Each individual must include his/her name, address, and what organization, if any, s/he represents in the email.  Anonymous comments will not be accepted.  
  • Written public comments will be included as part of the meeting record but will not be read out loud.
  • Public comments must be limited to 3 minutes (approximately 400 words).
  • Individuals giving public comment must refrain from direct questions to Board Members, school staff, or members of the audience.
  • Public comments that include profane or vulgar language or personal attacks are prohibited. 
  • Public comments that are not timely or that do not comply with these requirements will not be included as part of the meeting record.
  • The Board Chair reserves the right to maintain decorum at any meeting and to end any individual’s presentation of public comment that does not comply with these requirements.
