Call the Meeting to Order

J. Jeakle called a meeting of the board of directors of Bold City Education, Inc. to order on Thursday Aug 20, 2026 at 4:31 PM.

Approve Minutes

G. Wheeler made a motion to approve the minutes from Board Meeting June 18th (Rescheduled for July 7th) on 07-07-26.
P. Shivdasani seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

Approve Minutes 7/22/26 Special Meeting

II. Academic Excellence

A.

School Opening

S Thurlow opened with speaking about San Jose Prep and Primary's first weeks of school.

B.

Unisig Grant and Proposal

26-27 UNISig Grant for San Jose Primary was discussed. Majority of the allocation will go to the CLI Organization to utilize their literacy and coaching techiniques. 

 

Option for the Children's Literacy Initiative to work with teachers on coaching was discussed as part of the UNISig funding.

 

E Moore brought up research on CLI and wanted more information.

C.

Federal Programs Ongoing

26-27 Title I, II, IV funding was discussed for San Jose Prep and San Jose Primary. Title I funding is used for teacher salary allocations to help offset general funds. 

 

Title II funding is used for Teacher development/recruitment. San Jose Prep will be sending AP teachers to summer workshops for training. San Jose Primary will be implementing some more 

 

Title IV funding is used for students. Prep will be utilizing more AP classes this year and will need AP textbooks. Part of the Title IV allocation will go to AP Textbooks. San Jose Primary will be allocating monies to PBIS and PE supplies.

CSP Asset Transfer

G. Wheeler made a motion to Approve asset transfer Bold City Education to River City College.
P. Shivdasani seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

G. Wheeler made a motion to Motion to Approve Combined Budget (San Jose Prep and Primary).
P. Shivdasani seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

Final Enrollment Projections

G. Wheeler made a motion to Approve Final Enrollment Projections.
P. Shivdasani seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

G. Wheeler made a motion to Approve 4040 Sunbeam Property Sale Approving Resolution.
P. Shivdasani seconded the motion.
The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

  • Public comment is only permitted at Board meetings.  Public comment is not permitted at Board workshops.
  • Any person may sign up for public comment or submit written public comments by emailing PublicComments@BoldCityEd.org at least four (4) hours prior to any Bold City Education Board Meeting.  Be advised that this email address will be used only for obtaining public comments for Bold City Education Board Meetings and should not be used for any other purpose or question.  All emails received will be retained as public records pursuant to chapter 119, F.S.
  • Each individual must include his/her name, address, and what organization, if any, s/he represents in the email.  Anonymous comments will not be accepted.  
  • Written public comments will be included as part of the meeting record but will not be read out loud.
  • Public comments must be limited to 3 minutes (approximately 400 words).
  • Individuals giving public comment must refrain from direct questions to Board Members, school staff, or members of the audience.
  • Public comments that include profane or vulgar language or personal attacks are prohibited. 
  • Public comments that are not timely or that do not comply with these requirements will not be included as part of the meeting record.
  • The Board Chair reserves the right to maintain decorum at any meeting and to end any individual’s presentation of public comment that does not comply with these requirements.
