AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A WAIVER REQUEST TO THE DUVAL COUNTY PUBLIC
SCHOOLS AND THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION REGARDING THE STATUTORY
CORRECTIVE ACTION REQUIREMENT FOLLOWING THREE CONSECUTIVE SCHOOL GRADES
BELOW A "C" FOR SAN JOSE PRIMARY.

 

 

 

 

 
  D. BOARD RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OR BOARD CHAIR TO EXECUTE INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENTS Vote Ryan Rewey 5 m
   

Pursuant to section 1002.33(9)(n), Florida Statutes, charter schools that earn three consecutive grades below a
"C" are required to implement a corrective action selected by the governing board. Specifically, the statute
provides:
"If a charter school earns three consecutive grades below a 'C,' the charter school governing board
shall choose one of the following corrective actions:
(I) Contract for educational services to be provided directly to students, instructional personnel, and school
administrators, as prescribed in state board rule;
(II) Contract with an outside entity that has a demonstrated record of effectiveness to operate the school;
(III) Reorganize the school under a new director or principal who is authorized to hire new staff; or
(IV) Voluntarily closes the charter school.”

 

  • Academic instruction and intervention;
  • Virtual and in-person instructional services;
  • Professional development and instructional coaching;
  • Curriculum development and implementation;
  • Assessment and evaluation services;
  • Other educational services provided directly to students, instructional personnel, and school administrators as permitted by law.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all contracts executed pursuant to this Resolution shall:

  1. Be consistent with the Corporation's approved budget or otherwise approved by the Board;
  2. Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, including Florida Department of Education requirements;
  3. Be reviewed by legal counsel when deemed necessary by the CEO or Board Chair; and
  4. Be reported to the Board of Directors at its next regular meeting.
