III. February Financials

A.

Documentation

Maria Head presented the February financials. Majority of metric sheet is in green. No undocumented items and cash is very healthy. Waiting on some funds to come back in from submissions. 33% remaining should be what we see at this point in the school year and we are on track. School is spending less than expected. No questions or comments by the board.

B.

2026-2027 Budget First Reading

M. Rogers made a motion to accept the first reading.
L. Crosby seconded the motion.

The budget was created on 400 students. There are no salary increases or bonuses in the budget at this time. 400 students is a drop from the previous budget of 415. There is another decrease in funding this year for vocational. It was 1.2 weighting and now will decrease to 1.0. The budget reflects this change. The funding should go to schools via a different line in the budget, but there is no certainty on how much and in which line. Prestige recommends school budget for 80% of the funding but Kim decided to be conservative and budget as if we won't receive the 80% since we don't have any certainty yet. Maria decreased the federal lines just to follow the pattern of decreases in the past. Went line by line for expenses and made changes to reduce the bottom line. Nothing major was added. The bottom line shows $36,000 in the red with this first draft. Kim shared the difference between the ADM and funding we receive versus the fact that we have over 400 students. Leah asked about the deficit and how we would take care of that. Maria explained that we have very healthy fund equity which would cover the deficit. TC noted how the board was proactive with investing and funds put the school in a good place.

The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

IV. 2026-2027 Calendar Final Review

A.

L. Crosby made a motion to to approve the 2026-2027 calendar.

The only change that was made was at the top of the calendar it states "Modified Calendar" since school starts prior to the 3rd Monday in August. Nothing else changed from the previous draft. We went through again to check for the 180 days, weather makeup days, end of quarter, workdays, etc.

The board VOTED unanimously to approve the motion.

VI. Executive Director Report

A.

Report

Kim made everyone aware that conversations between a few facilities looking to enroll with our school have taken place. Kim has a relationship with a virtual middle school and students are being referred to SCWS. Enrollment started early in February and we have a record number of students enrolled/re-enrollment at this point. The possible partnerships are looking positive which will support our ADM for next year. Kim shared Literacy Night will take place next week on Wednesday, March 18th from 4-6pm. Our superintendent plans to attend this event. This is the first Literacy Night as this is the first year we have been labeled as Title 1. Prom is April 18th from 1-4pm at the Meech House. We have over 20 students signed up so far. Leah asked Kim to email the board with all of the information about events. There is a lot of testing happening in the month of March. Kim thanked everyone for their help with testing.
