II. Board Retreat Follow-up and Board Dashboard Creation
A.
Creation of Board Dashboards to Track Strategic Outcomes Regularly
Sarah led discussion debriefing the board retreat and some of the next steps that came from it. One of the next is that the outcomes committee will need to continue to refine and define the goals for the school year and within the three-five year span, how do we want to communicate this information to the board?
Sarah opened it up to see if anyone else had any other information to bring back from the Board retreat. Meekerley shared that there is some data that the board will want to see but there are specific data points that directly align with strategic plan and this should be shown each time. And decide what the best way is to consolidate this information so that the Board feels fully informed.
Sarah opened it up to the Board to review the current 5 year strategic plan as well as the open architects Board dashboard to gather feedback on where it currently stands and where it needs to go to be most effective.
Committee described what they think would help.
- Show comparative data and make clear where we should be based on constraints
- Clean up: clear metrics of ambitious goals and strategy, what metrics are we held accountable to in our charter, what metrics are we using to adequately assess our progress towards the state accountability ratings.
- An easy way to display if we are under or over metrics
- we like that open architects allows us to move between multiple tabs
- some sort of roll up of the north star metrics
- A clear sense of where we need to dig in
- Easy way to look at student body as a whole, but also a clear way to see the subgroups
- Comparison to how our charter peers are doing as well
- overall people like using open architects as a mainstream
- School expressed there is a lot of data and streamline exactly where it will be is necessary
Meekerley mentioned by June 2 outcomes meeting we hope to have a draft, and by the first Board meeting of next year we will have a new board. Even if not official in outcomes, by next open architects we need on paper how it needs to look so once open architects is ready we can input it in a formal sense.
For next time, we need to spend the time thinking through overview of how it looks with three portions of metrics so we can input in open architects.
III. Persistence Updates: Alumni Performance
A.
Alumni Persistence Performance
As a Board we spend out a lot of time talking about current students, but as part of our mission we make sure to block off time as a Board to assess how our Alumni are doing. Meekerley leading overview, as the persistence team is on the ground with our alumni today!
Questions Persistence has: what other data metrics would the Board like to see? What is the tie back between the 6-12 data markers and alumni data markers?
The committee took time to study the slides and data, to create reactions and questions.
Questions and Comments on Persistence Slides:
- School team painted picture of the different experiences different classes had. It was mentioned that 2019 class had more strict Boston Prep grading and culture systems
