Call the Meeting to Order
David Heller called a meeting of the Governance and Expansion Committee of Bethany Community School to order on Wednesday May 7, 2025 at 6:30 PM.
II. Other Business
A.
Pond maintenance and paving student parking lots
- Pond Maintenance
- Shawn Bowers shared the need and obligation for pond maintenance.
- Shared and discussed quote for clearing trees around upper pond and dam, reseeding around pond and dam from Barnes Brothers.
- Shawn has talked with other vendors about getting a quote on similar work, but timeline run into next fall/start of school.
- Discussion had on condition of both ponds on property and how to get into usable shape.
- Lower pond: consensus recommendation is to have Bethany maintenance staff to mow around pond and get as much brush removed as possible our selves.
- Upper pond: consensus recommendation is to move forward with the Barnes Brother quote and have the work done this summer.
- An annual maintenance plan is needed for both pond going forward.
- These recommendations will be presented to the full board at the May meeting.
- Paving student parking lots
- Quotes from Barnes Brothers, Yellow Dawg, and Ruston Paving reviewed and discussed.
- After much discussion, the following actions were recommended.
- Create specifications on the type of work to be done and go back to these 3 vendors to get quotes.
- Specifications:
- Compact all areas
- Heavy traffic areas: 2" of binder; 2" of topping
- All student parking areas: 2" of asphalt
- Bus area: 6" concrete @ 5000 PSI
- Specifications:
- If possible, have 3 quotes ready to present to the full board at the May meeting.
- Create specifications on the type of work to be done and go back to these 3 vendors to get quotes.
