The third Summer Symposium was a huge success. The three small groups worked with team leaders and also conducted indicial research projects. This work led to some meaningful policy proposals for next year. It was a great opportunity for building trust, collaboration and professionalism among the faculty members who participated.
TSAS will begin with 88% return rate of teachers for this next year, and we have great confidence in the new faculty and staff members that will join this year.
The work in the symposium will guide personal development days throughout this next year. THe teacher leaders will be instrumental in leading professional development.

Security Transition Report
Jesse Stallings showed the board an example of how well the new cameras work. The new system increases the number of cameras and also enhances their capabilities. A future presentation will consider the protocols and protections of the new security features.
The transfer of the security system to our new monitoring vendor will alert school leadership if there is a building intrusion. The cameras and the intrusion monitoring systems work well together, and we are able to check and confirm if police need to be called or not.
The doors themselves are now controllable from a computer in the building. We will be able to lock and unlock remotely. We also manage our badge system for these doors now in-house.
Cricket Moore asked if there was concern about losing the security recordings if there was a disaster. Stallings said everything we have is backed up in multiple ways in multiple places. It provides law-enforcement level security. We also incorporated desktop computers with high resolution for viewing security cameras for the principal, dean of students, the main office, and our custodian.
We also bought all new projectors for each classroom. Through these projectors, we can now remotely turn on and project a unified silent message across the entire building for immediate safety announcements or emergencies.

Year End Financials
Stallings explained some items on the budget agenda. We exceeded our salary budget projection. We have worked to include part-time salaries in the budget and continue to balance the guessing game for how many substitutes we'll need and the exact amount for them in the budget. We were required to expend $233,000 in SRO funds this year. This year we also had to cover new maintenance costs and building costs.
Mickey said that we sit really close to our expenditures being even to last year, but the difference is due to the SRO funds we needed to spend. We kept spending level, which is the main point. Our work this year and projections for next year encourage us to plan ahead for fundraising in the 2027 school year.

Stallings shared updates to the handbook. The technology policy simply updated AI language and clarified student privacy when using our devices. Data sharing updates that are on file. Admissions policy was matched to our charter contract, and also now incorporates the military exception. Title IX coordinator is now Dr. Dan Hahn. Updated curriculum for AIDS education to match the new state requirements. Asbestos updates since we will now own the building. Unified policy with two tracts depending on which issue is being addressed, Civil Rights or Title IX.
Dr. Liesa Smith explained the policy modifications were reviewed by the school's legal counsel. Uniformity and compliance with legislation have been our goals with these updates. Having all the policies unified and aligned will allow us confidence and accuracy across all policy manuals and handbooks. The board policies will be made available online as well as a physical handbook and will make access easier for everyone. Dr. Liesa added that Jesse Stallings has been working on this policy project since May, along with all the other security issues. She is grateful for all his hard work and attention to detail.

Adjourn Meeting
6:51 pm
Dr. Liesa Smith announced the building is ours! The closing of the building purchase occurred on July 15th. As part of the process, we updated some insurance and made a few increases in a policy we already had. Premiums increased slightly. Because the sale wasn’t finalized before the end of June, we were required to sign a short-term lease with TPS for the month of July. With the sale complete, the short-term lease is now no longer active. We were successful in getting all SRO money spent by the end of June. Our facility contractor, Randal Russell, projected that at the end of this week or next week, we are on the list for HVAC maintenance. The other project this summer is to re-key the building.
We have submitted a grant proposal to a philanthropic partner for a research and development grant which will help us identify our greatest areas of need and growth. This grant could be a stepping stone to additional future grants.
The leadership team and staff return on August 3rd, teachers return on the 10th and students on the 13th.
At the regular board meeting on August 11th, we will also hold a short annual meeting for election of new board leadership roles. We will be looking for a Board President, Board Vice President and Board Clerk.
