Jill reported that Susan O’Rourke, accountant, made changes  to portions of the budget including electricity, water, heat and elevator maintenance. As a result, the net income is decreased to $3106.  
John Stepney, Special Ed Math Para, will be pursuing a teacher certification through the Charter School Educators Permit, which will positively impact the budget; he will be able to take over classes which will prevent Jill from having to teach a class. Once his certification is complete he will receive a raise and there will be no need to hire another math teacher. The benefits of this are that John has about 20 years experience with Explorations and understands our population and the staff. 
Another teacher who is eligible for retirement has not determined if they will be taking it in the coming year.  The teacher will be on an unpaid leave of absence from May 15 to January 1 and will decide upon return whether he will be retiring or not. 
The updated budget will be presented to the Board for approval at the meeting 5/21/24.
