Call the Meeting to Order

C. Glier called a meeting of the board of directors of BELIEVE SCHOOLS, INC to order on Wednesday Feb 16, 2022 at 5:00 PM.

C. Glier made a motion to approve the minutes from January Board Meeting on 01-19-22.
H. Harshman seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.

II. Executive Director Report

Executive Director Updates

>Working with Afton Group for budget process and long term projections (5 and 10 year budgeting) 

 

>Growth: CSGF conversation about national charters led by people of color. Only two male black leaders — Phalen and Rooted. Novice leaders. CSGF named Kneal that is well situated to grow and know we need to get this right here locally, too. One of the few high performing charters — opening 2024 new school year. 

 

> TMT and team came last week. Want us to grow locally — like us to consider potential growth in pike area. They just received funding to grow in Pike.. political information provided. 

 

>Pike is the area for change.. no superidenent etc. 

 

>Kim’s stipulations would be around leader growth —> grow dean capacity and knowledge

 

>Health career focus school in STL —> Internships, work, health career focused. Partner with universities etc. Want to supply money to put up money for leadership.

 

>Grants: 6 grants out in 6 week cycle (construction, talent pool, STEM) 

 

>Started construction on the building: doors are painted.. HVAC, Roof, New projects in front office

 

>Statehouse updates 

 

>Focus areas for career certifications: MA/CNA, Construction, Culinary Arts, IT Certifications 

 

>Palnning Parent Academy with La Plaza

 

>Culture: Things are going well. We had meetings with top 5 point earners to establish plans for them. They haven't leveled up out of our system yet and they should have. 

 

>COVID policies might be changing soon… no more information at this time. 

 

>PSAT: Results are positive. We are in reach with established networks. We're excited to see scholars' growth. 

 

> Post SAT coming next month

SPED/ML Contract

Contract for approval with SPED Acts: 20k. 

C. Glier made a motion to approve SPED contract.
L. Turner seconded the motion.
The board VOTED to approve the motion.
