The choice is between the MA LWP Assessment Tool and WellSAT. 

 

  • WellSAT, the free online scorecard from the UConn Rudd Center. It grades how complete and strong the policy's wording is.
  • Massachusetts Local Wellness Policy Assessment Tool, built by DESE with the John C. Stalker Institute and the Alliance for a Healthier Generation. It has two parts: a Strength Checklist that reviews the written policy, and an Implementation Assessment that looks at what actually happens at school. Each can be done online or as a PDF.
  • MA Strength Checklist (PDF), the printable version, updated June 2026. The state says this checklist alone meets the triennial requirement.

The state tool is the same family as the Alliance checklist Hill View used in January 2025. Using it again would make it easy to compare progress.
