II. Fundraising
A.
Current NEST Funds
~$27,000 (note that we haven't paid World's Finest Chocolate yet).
B.
World's Finest Chocolate
- 13 students still owe money for the boxes they agreed to sell
- On Monday, a date will be decided on for prize awarding ceremony
- Students owing money will not be invited to the ceremony in order to incentivize them
- We still have 105 boxes not allocated for sale
- $60/box
- Mostly 4th grade and under sold boxes
- The price of the chocolate bars, as set by WFC, increased from the usual $1 to $2 this time around
C.
Book Fair
- ~$11,000 in sales from the March 3rd - 7th book fair
- We now have $3,081.54 in Scholastic Dollars
- Our previous Scholastic Dollars balance was most recently used to purchase a projector set (for outdoor movies and the like), 3 large bookshelves, and 2 small bookshelves (bookshelves intended for our school's Lending Library program)
- We plan to host a buy-1-get-1 book fair May 5th - 7th
D.
Krispy Kreme
- Tentatively in April, after Spring Break
- Does not require much planning
- We allow school community to prepay for their orders
- We take those orders and submit them in aggregate to Krispy Kreme of Asheville
- We pick up the orders in the early morning and distribute them at student drop-off
E.
Uniform Sale
- In July
- Low on supply; more uniform donations needed
- Unsure if Bear Creek (our vendor for apparel and embroidery) is able and willing to come out to the campus to perform embroidery or if we need to collect articles at the event and bring to Bear Creek
III. Needs
A.
High School Book Donations
High school would like more books to fill out their Lending Library.
B.
Uniform Donations
More uniform donations are needed to restock our supply for uniform sales.
C.
Flood Victim Assistance
- Several students were severely impacted by the flooding from Hurricane Helene
- Food assistance
- Childcare
- We intend to help as we can and to reach out to Haywood Christian Ministries and First United Methodist Church to spread the word about the needs of these families
D.
Snacks
- The snacks purchased with a $3,000 donation to SRCA have finally been depleted
- NEST was purchasing snacks prior to that donation and it cost ~$500 per month
- Only some classrooms invite parents to donate snacks
E.
ParentSquare Notifications
We need to have ParentSquare notifications pushed out for the following:
- Krispy Kreme fundraiser
- Snacks
- Uniform donations
Infographic notifications are particularly effective
IV. Celebrations
A.
Sun Shades
Holes to be dug in at the Russ Ave campus on March 22 for the new sun shades.
